Frank Illes – Dynamic. Unique. Compelling.

My name is Frank Illes.

I am the child of Hungarian immigrants who escaped to Canada from behind the Iron Curtain to build a better life for themselves. I was born in Toronto in the mid-1960’s and raised in an environment rich in culture, entertainment, music, art, and sports. My parents inspired in me a curiosity about the world. That upbringing led me to pursue a career as an artist.

Through my parents influence, I pursued both music and photography as outlets for my creative endeavors. Eventually, I ended up choosing photography over music as my main focus of expression. I discovered that my best way of telling a story is through visual imagery.

While building my photographic career, I traveled extensively, exploring the world with an abstract sense of perception. After earning my degree in multi-media project management, I began to evolve a new style of post pop-culture photography, which I now call “abstract perceptionism”.

The strength of my photography lies in my ability to capture the energy of contrast and juxtaposition. Regardless of the subject or circumstance, I have the ability to convey powerful, riveting expressions and nuances in my work. My style is quirky, sophisticated, and tongue-in-cheeky. I capture the moment that gets noticed, the verve that turns heads. I express the world and its mysteries in a way that is dynamic, unique, and compelling.
